Definition | A <PARTICLE FLUENCE> is a <RATIO> where F is the quotient dN by dA, where dN is the number of particles incident on a sphere of cross-sectional area dA:(2.1)The unit of particle fluence is m–2. The use of a sphere of cross-sectional area dA expresses in the simplest manner the fact that one considers an area dA perpendicular to the direction of each particle and hence that particle fluence is independent of the incident angle of the radiation |
