Note | The liquid stream is divided into the fixed volume cavities between the gear teeth and meter body. The upstream liquid pressure continuously fills the cavities and forces the gears to rotate away from the inlet. The volumes of liquid are then squeezed out from between the teeth as they re-mesh on the outlet side of the flow meter. Each revolution of the flow meter will allow liquid, equal in total volume to the gear teeth spacing, to pass through the meter. The rotation of the gears is sensed through the rotation of one of the gear shafts. |
